The practical work this term consists of two 16mm black and white mute location films, each approximately 3 ½ minutes long, shot with available light and without additional lighting and edited without effects and any sound track.


For the first term the principal roles are director, cinematographer or editor. Other roles can be are producer, screenwriter, camera operator, production designer, assistant director and  assistant camera


I was responsible for Producer role and Director of Photography for another group. 




The object of this term's exercise is to research, script and shoot a non-fiction/ documentary film. The form of the exercise is an HD colour, sync sound documentary of approximately 15 minutes duration, shot on location [exterior and/or interior] over 6-days. There are 22 days for post-production. This includes syncing rushes, editing on a non-linear platform to a fine cut, creating titling, additional sound recording, track laying, track check and a final sound mix done at an external dubbing facility.


TERM 4 Spring 2014

Term 4 is a black and white film of up to 10-minutes length

This studio-based exercise includes set designing and construction, casting and use of actors, make-up, studio lighting and camera-work, sync-sound recording, editing, track-laying, and mixing of the finished sound tracks and grading

Unit directors, in conjunction with their producers, can choose to originate it on 35mm film or on digital with ALEXA




Term 5 is a colour film of up to 15-minutes length. This studio-based exercise similar to the 4th term with mixing of the finished sound tracks and grading. Digital Alexa only for this term exercise.
